Position Overview
Build and maintain custom GIS applications integrating spatial databases, web mapping libraries, and geospatial analysis tools. Develop applications for environmental monitoring, urban planning, asset management, and location intelligence across government and enterprise sectors.
This role requires expertise in GIS technologies, spatial databases, and modern web development to create interactive mapping applications that handle large-scale geospatial datasets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop custom GIS applications using ArcGIS, QGIS, or open-source geospatial tools
- Build web mapping applications with Leaflet, Mapbox, OpenLayers, or Google Maps API
- Design and optimize spatial databases using PostGIS, MongoDB, or Oracle Spatial
- Implement geospatial analysis algorithms for routing, buffering, and spatial queries
- Integrate real-time data streams (IoT sensors, GPS tracking, weather data)
- Develop REST APIs for geospatial data services (WMS, WFS, WCS)
- Process and visualize raster and vector geospatial data
- Implement geocoding, reverse geocoding, and location-based services
- Optimize application performance for large spatial datasets
- Create data pipelines for ETL of geospatial data from multiple sources

Qualifications
- 5+ years of GIS software development experience
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related field
- Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience with spatial databases (PostGIS) and SQL
- Knowledge of cartography and map design principles
- Understanding of OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WCS, GeoJSON)
- Experience with web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js)
- GIS Professional (GISP) certification preferred
